There are a number of reasons why the period between May and June is special for all of us. The days are long, very long. Which means more hours in the saddle and less stress. It’s hot, but not excessively so. It’s comfortable at all hours, even when the sun is beating down on your forearms. And then there is the Giro d’Italia, the event that unites the country more than any other. It is the beginning of summer, which smells of promise, of something beautiful that is coming and that we have been waiting for for a long time.
